“Love one another”

At. St. John’s, we believe that a church should make a difference in the community.  That means reaching out to people and meeting physical needs as well as spiritual.
As a member of the Pottsboro Ministerial Alliance, we join other churches to put on  the Billy Vier Family Festival at Friendship Park in August.  We give out free school supplies and have a great time of free food and fun in the park.
Join us on Friday, August 2nd from 5 to 8 p.m.

“I was hungry and you gave me something to eat”

One Friday morning each month, members of St. John’s go to Grand Central Station dining car in Sherman to prepare and serve lunch.
We have fun making and serving about 60-70 people a good hot lunch!   http://grandcentralsherman.com/

St. John’s is a support church in Family Promise of Grayson County, which provides food, shelter and support services to homeless families with children as they regain sustainable independence. Family Promise integrates educational outreach, smart programming, effective policies, and the hands-on work of hundreds of volunteers. They provide advice and advocacy for at-risk families to prevent their becoming homeless, and we educate people about poverty and the means to combat it.
“I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink”

Once a year Rev. Powers and members of St. John’s go to Thanksgiving Square in Dallas to celebrate Holy Eucharist with a homeless congregation known as “The Gathering”.  After the spiritual nourishment of holy communion and God’s word, we provide “to go” lunches and bottled water for all who attend.
